Undid revision 11564 by Static Fanatic (talk) Rationale: "Class-specific gamemode" isn't descriptive of the article.. "Class gamemode" is derived from PyroDM/CivDM where it's $CLASS $GAMEMODE. The recent adoption of CDM as a prefix makes this feel more correct. Having a map designed for a gamemode is implicit, and I think the weapon aspect is a requirement to be a Class gamemode as opposed to Class Wars.
Line 1: Line 1:
Class-specific gamemodes, usually referred to as '''Class gamemodes''', are a family of community gamemodes that restrict all teams to a certain class. Unlike ''Class Wars'', maps are specifically designed for Class gamemodes, with most featuring built-in custom weapons and/or weapon pickups.
'''Class gamemodes''' are a family of community gamemodes that restrict teams to a certain class. Unlike ''Class Wars'', the defining characteristic of these gamemodes are that weapons that are typically unusable by the class are available through pickups or custom item schemas. The most popular format is ''Class Team Deathmatch'' (referred to as just ''Class Deathmatch''), usually only allowing the Civilian.

Currently, there are two Class gamemodes with publicly released maps: ''Class Deathmatch'' and ''Class CTF'', which feature similar gameplay to [[Team Deathmatch]] and [[Capture the Flag]] respectively.
